Microbiome Testing Service
Fast, Prescise, Cost Effective
The Labospace Microbiome testing service uses Next Generation Sequencing with the Ion Torrent™ (ThermoFisher Scientific) platform by the Ion GeneStudio S5 Sequencer to analyse mixed microbial populations. Labospace metagenomic analysis allows qualitative
and quantitative assessment of the bacteria (phylum, class, order, family, genus and species) present in different anatomic regions in various health and / or pathological conditions.
Guaranteed results in 3 weeks! (up to 30 samples. For a greater number of samples the times are agreed with laboratory).

Why Use Our Service?
The microbiome refers to the collection of microorganisms, commensal, symbiotic and pathogenic, that live in a particular environment. Humans, animals and plants have their own unique microbiomes. Analysing the microbiome allows us to characterise the relationships between the microbiome and its hosts factors (biological, genetic) and environmental conditions. We can also study the microbiome to identify possible biological and environmental factors that are associated with microbiome composition. This way we can try to understand how host and environmental factors influence the microbiome and the role the microbiome has on the host’s physiological properties. What we learn from the microbiome has the potential to contribute to therapeutic strategies that modulate the composition of the microbiome in human diseases.
Services Workflow
Automatic Bacterial DNA Extraction
DNA is extracted from the sample using TANbead automated nucleic acid extraction. We will also carry out our analysis on pre-extracted DNA. (Optional)
Library Construction
16S primer sets amplify 7 of the 9 hypervariable regions of the bacterial 16S rDNA gene.
Sequence
Libraries generated with the Ion 16S Metagenomics Kit are sequenced using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) with ThermoFisher Ion GeneStudio S5 System.
Analyse
Sequenced reads are analyzed and classified by 16S Metagenomic analysis module in the Ion Reporter Software. Individual reads are first aligned to the MicroSEQ® ID library
(high-quality library of full-length 16S rRNA sequences for >15,000 organisms) with any unaligned reads subject to a second alignment to the Greengenes database (which contains >400,000 records that were curated for content) to achieve rapid and exhaustive bacterial identification.
Automatic Bacterial DNA Extraction
FastQ reads are analyzed and classified by custom software using RDP (Ribosomal Database Project) that provides quality controlled, aligned and annotated Bacterial and Archaeal 16S rRNA sequences. (Optional)
Metagenomic Analysis
Metagenomic analysis allows for the assessment of the bacteria present in various anatomic regions qualitatively and quantitatively. We work with raw data from FastQ or BAM files.

Your Microbe Map
Ion Reporter software enables microbe identification, at the genus or species level, from complex polybacterial samples.
We provide primer information, classification information, percent ID, and mapping information.
With easy-to-use interactive Krona chart displays, you can interpret population diversity for your research at any taxonomic level.
What makes the Labospace Microbiome testing service different
The Labospace service team has simplified and increased the sequencing depth for 16S rRNA gene sequencing, by amplifying and sequencing seven hypervariable regions (V2, V3, V4, V6, V7, V8 and V9). We are equipped with the Ion Torrent™ Ion GeneStudio S5
platform (ThermoFisher Scientific). One of the most used and standardised platforms for metagenomics analysis of different microbiota.
DNA samples extracted from stool, urine, saliva or swabs (vaginal, buccal, rectal, cutaneous, environmental) are routinely analysed in our laboratory, and we guarantee a delivery time of less than 3 weeks.
